Angie Crick went to art school to learn to paint “her way”, and claims she is inspired by every instructor, every student, and every personality she has encountered.
Since graduating from Delta State in 1998 with a degree in art and education, she has worked with hundreds of students from her studio and has consistently created art based on her own experiences and interests. She took her obsession of weaving objects through canvas to a new level with her staple copper pieces. Merging the masculine feel of copper with vivid color and intense design has become her calling card in the art world. Her interpretation and her sytle with color has given her the reputation of one of the most unique of Mississippi’s artist.
As a Mississippi Delta native, she indulges in the simplicity of the landscapes and rich culture. Whether incorporating actual cotton stalks, dried grasses or delta dirt on to the canvas, she captures the essence of her surroundings in heavy layers of vibrant colors to present her perception of a place she loves.
